BIGGEST MORNING TEA – 2023

We can report that the SA Quilters Biggest Morning Tea was a great success thanks to all our members and friends who dropped in for a cuppa, bought goods from the trading tables and tickets in the raffles. We served over 500 guests throughout the day. Wonderful support for Cancer Research.

And special thanks for the many hours put in by our SA Quilters members who worked and planned weeks ahead to make the day run smoothly. And to Peg for her amazing catering skills and the girls who worked in the kitchen all day serving our guests. Just the task of washing dishes all day was done with fun and laughter. And who could forget the beautiful floral displays on the tables, thank you Gwen for providing the lovely roses.

And a special mention to our wonderful quilters who showed their special skills in the demonstrations throughout the day. And our Librarian, Michael, who managed the book trading table and Lessa who stayed all day selling the amazing Bedford quilt kits. And, importantly, the “Quilting Husbands” who helped before and on the day and looked after the garden trading tables.

And thanks to the Chicago Quilters of Kilburn for allowing us to display their beautiful charity quilts along the walls of the hall.

The winners of the major raffle were:
– First Prize – Quilt went to Kerry Rogers
– Second Prize – Wall Mosaic went to Kay Urquhart

Prizes were drawn on the day for the 28 Shoebox Raffles – you can download the list of winners here.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE SA QUILTERS THE BIGGEST MORNING TEA.

AND THE RESULTS:

On behalf of SA Quilters, Cindy presented the cheque for $17,000 to Katie from Cancer Council SA at the SA Quilters June 2023 meeting.

SA Quilters can report that, after all the tallying up from the Biggest Morning Tea, the sum of $18,500 was raised to support the Cancer Council SA. Of that amount we sincerely thank the Clayton’s Committee (Lessa and Faye) for contributing $5,445 as a result of the sale of the Bedford Quilt Kits.

Congratulations on an amazing result thanks to the BMT Team, SA Quilters members and everyone who visited and contributed on the day. Over 500 people were served a cuppa and sweet treats. All for a very worthy cause.

We have been advised by the Australian Tax Office that GST must be paid and SA Quilters will give a donation to the Cancer Council in the sum of $17,000 – still a fantastic result.
