Events and Activities
The Quilters' Guild of SA is holding their annual Patchwork and Quilting Information Day on February 10th 2008 at All Saints Anglican Church, at Colonel Light Gardens. Mary Williams, an experienced patchwork and quilting tutor, will provide an introduction to patchwork and quilting and advise participants on the basic requirements. The following information will be discussed:
- Equipment: Rotary cutter, mats, rulers (Metric & Imperial), needles, pins, threads and scissors
- Fabrics: Cost, quality, composition, preparation before use, where to buy, hand dyed
- Sewing Machines: What you may need for your machine and why
- Patchwork: type of blocks, templates, foundation pieced, hand piecing, appliqué - fusible webbing/needle turn, hand/machine and quilt sizes
- Quilting: machine and hand, batting - what is available, basting, backing fabric, bindings and labels.
